Gingerbread Root download Droid X

Hi - I have a Droid X from Verzion Wireless. I really wanted to do the Ginger bread thing. I downloaded Z4 Root and rooted the phone..I downloaded the recovery tool..but then when I followed the instructions to download the actual Ginger Bread from MEgaupload..It says downloading but then says download unsuccessful..It says my phone will not support it.

Anyone else have this problem? Any Suggestions on a Remedy?

Did you use stock browser to download. It often has trouble. Try dolphinhd or one of the other browsers. Also it sounds like you just rooted. Make sure you read a bit about rooting, using bootstrap which you will need to use to apply the file. Also download RSD lite and full stock 2.3. 34(froyo) sbf files onto your computer in case you get into trouble. An easy way to get all the files is buy the TBH app. For two bucks with a good wifi connection you can download every thing you need and then transfer the rsd and sbf files to your computer.

For more info to to the droid x forums, they have all the info and then some. Gingerbread is great but don't risk your phone!

Also the stock browser won't download all file types. Download Astro File browser and check the option that allows all downloads.

That sounds like the issue..Have you two did this? I saw so many people doing it..I would like to..but also don't want to damage my phone. I love it so much. Advice?

I have. I downloaded it from my computer and placed it on my sd card like I do all roms. I really liked it but I did do a sbf and am back on darkslide. Just a personal choice until we have some working roms on it.

Same thing happend to me. Make sure the GB file is around 177MB. The file you most likely downloaded wasnt that big. First time i tried it was 20MB, but tried redownloading it again and it worked
