Help rooting OG droid 2.2

I cant get my OG Droid 2.2 to root after moving the file to sd card and powering down and getting into the rebot screen click on launch update.zip and all it says is failed to launch file any help would be great i thought i could figure it out but i am lost please help

I am no expert, but I can try to help. How did you root? I had a problem with the file being named update.zip.zip on my card. Check the file name from Astro...(or any file manager you are using...)

i downloaded the file put it on my sd card and named it update.zip and nothing i have tried this a butt load of times i think a simple set of instructions hell maybe even pictures lol

There is a You Tube video posted here.....For the hell of it, boot phone normally. Open file manager and make sure file is where it should be. Long press it to bring up the edit screen. Rename it "update.zip" See if you can apply it now.

I had tried every method to root my phone including the one you are trying and couldn't get anything to work. What finally worked for me was going to the XDA Developers site and using the Super One Click method. The trick to it is to make sure that you have the correct Motorola drivers for your computer. Then it honestly only took me 5 minutes.

Try changing the file name to just "update"...that worked for me. Good luck!
