OK people, our first OTA Android update watch in the forums!

Since it's pretty likely that we'll have a barrage of posts on 2.2 over the next few days, we wanted to give you a place to let us all know if and when you get the update. Feel free to refresh as much as possible, but try to keep this on topic...

Remember that the Droid X allows for "pulling" of updates meaning you can actually check to see if an update is ready unlike many other Android devices. To check go into Settings>About>System Updates to check!

-7:18AM PST (PDT?) and I'm on 2.2...flashing back to 2.1 in a few. NO udpate ready for me heh.

Im gonna kill my battery checking for updates every 3 seconds! They shipped me a new phone yesterday wonder if it will come preloaded with 2.2

Depends on how android handles build version numbers - if they're distinct values and not a string, '15' might really represent '1.5' which would mean that 9 is significantly further along revision-wise.

Hmm pulling doesn't work too well if nearly everyone can't get the update even if it is out.

according to Adobe Acrobat Pro the PDF at http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/droid_x.pdf was created 9/15/2010...my fingers are surely getting a workout checking for the update!

why don't you search around....there are plenty of forums and instructions on how to do that....

I'm going to wait, even after it comes out, to get the "rooted" version of 2.2 for the X...I'm not willing to lose root to get flash player...I've already went leaked 2.2 back to 2.1 because it was just to buggy for me....

I think I will go back to stock tonight in anticipation... maybe I will wake up in the morning with a notification for 2.2?!.. lol.. (wishful thinking)

It HAS to be coming soon.. It's kind of funny that they are waiting until the LAST day of summer.. Technically tomorrow is the Summer/Fall transition day with fall beginning Thursday.. they are eliminating lawsuits I guess..

So let the wait begin I guess... Im willing to bet we wont see this update until tomorrow at the soonest and or vzw will find some dumb way to get around blur to pace the rollout of the update.

Personally I don't think anyone should waste their time checking their phones for updates or attempting to force an update.

By now we are all familiar with the Motorola and Verizon OTA update process by now. On the first day, one to 3,000 will receive the first waive as a means to test that the update will work with the rest of the masses. After that first 24 hour testing period the update rolls out to more with that additional number repeating each day until everyone has received it.

If today by chance was the first day I think it would be safe to assume the update would roll out over the air to the smaller number first without the ability to force it to your phone until at least after the first 24 hour period.
