I was following along in the instructions and everything seemed to be working correctly. I sent the reboot command and the phone reset came up to the M motorola logo and won't boot past that. I've since gone into the hardware initiated recovery mode and done a "Factory Reset" and the phone still won't boot past the M logo. I realize there is no blame here, I'm the one who did this but if anyone has any suggestions or links for bringing my phone back to life I would really appreciate it. I'm pretty much freaking out that I've bricked it. Any ideas welcome. Thanks.

man that was scary for a moment. Ok I'm back up, had to use the SBF method to recover. You all can probably search and find it and it doesn't look like anyone else is having the problems I did with this mod. If you do however here is what I used to fix it

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=130983

The only thing you need to know is how to get in bootloader mode which is different then recovery mode. Power the phone off (battery pull if you have too) hold the camera and UP volume while you power on. I held all buttons for a count of 10 then it came up to a black screen with white text. The directions on that link worked perfectly from there. I lost everything but my phone works again and I am relieved.

and the second "mount -o" command with:

grep " /system " /proc/mounts | awk '{system("mount -o ro,remount -t "$3" "$1" "$2)}'

And post your results. I was able to get the mount commands to work using this command, however when I reboot the phone, I get the Droid eye, and then the phone reboots. It seems to be stuck in a loop doing this, so I've had no luck with these changes so far.

I still get mount: Device or resource busy.

After the 'su' command, issue the command 'stop'. This should *hopefully* free up your system folder.

You might also find it useful to know that with the option 'remount', you don't need to specify the file system. In fact, the /dev/block/ part of the command is even ignored (but still required). When remounting, mount looks only at the last argument when deciding what to remount. Only the mount flags are changed. I confirmed this by successfully remounting /system on a Droid 1 using the above command, even though the /dev/block/mtdblock4 is mounted to /system on the Droid and not /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 (which doesn't exist for me). You should still type it correctly though, just for safety.

Try 'stop' though. Very handy, and I assume it works on a Droid X too.

I would like to try out the black status bar, but I'd like to be able to go back to the stock status bar if I don't like it/can't get it set like I want it. Is this possible without having to do a recovery?

In theory, you should be able to copy your stock .apk files to a folder on your sdcard and copy them back to your /system/ directory if you don't like the black bar.

Does anyone know what clock/weather widget he's using?
