*HELP*Galaxy Nexus Hard Reset

Postby JavaLlamaFTW » Sun Apr 01, 2012 3:24 pm

Alright, So last night I finished unlocking the bootloader on my LTE GNEX using the SDK, rooted also. I was playing around when I thought "Lets see what this encryption thing does" needless to say, my phone is now encrypted, and is not recognizing the password I set. This wouldent be an issue but I flashed Clockwork Recovery, and can not do a hard factory reset, and because it is encrypted I can not access any files or folders in recovery, bootloader or when booted at the screen asking for the Encryption Password. So I need a way to do a Hard Factory reset or flash the stock recovery then do the Reset.

TL;DR Encryption password not working, need to flash stock recovery to do hard reset, have CWM recovery and cannot do the reset with that.

Also I have seen lots of "Restore your Galaxy Nexus back to stock" articles/threads which is what I want to do, and could do were it not encrypted

FUCK YEAH I have fixed it! And here is the process to fix yours should something similar happen to you.

Step 1: Download and setup the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1400871 )

Step 2: Reboot into fastboot (bootloader AFAIK)(Also, I don't remember the Toolkit actually recognizing the phone in that state before doing the next step, so even if it doesn't show in the recognized devices, still try the next step)

Step 3:Choose option 10 (type "10" hit enter)

Step 4: It will not flash the stock recovery image, this will only take a few seconds

Step 5: In the fastboot menu, volume button your way to reboot into recovery

Step 6: *warning* your phone may seem like its frozen at this point displaying the android with the ominous exclamation point, it sat at this screen for a minute or more, but be patient as it will eventually load into the recovery menu. Once you are in the recovery menu, volume button navigate to the factory reset and hit the power button to select. this will also seem as though it is frozen, it was formatting /data for about 3 minutes so be patient

Step 7: reboot the system

Step 8: Breathe a sigh of relief!
