Help rooting OG Droid 2.2.2 FRG83G

Months ago I was rooted but stupidly allowed the OTA update for 2.2.2. Now my phone has been unroted and recently I have switched to a different OG Droid on the same 2.2.2 frg83g build. Can anyone help me root my device? I have tried using super one click and a version of z4root. My idea would be to downgrade to 2.2.1 and then root and bounce back to 2.3.5 which I read was out.

I would like to re-root to hold me down until my next phone which wil be sometime this fall....droid bionic cough cough.

Is there anyone who could help?

Have you tried Soup R Root? I have rooted a few times, each time with Soup R Root. Takes a few minutes, but couldn't be easier.

sorry for the late response but yeah it finially worked after 2 tried and restarting the phone. now i have 2.3.5 by peter alfonso yet the LED does not flash when its supposed to and my battery runs down faster than normal.
