With many areas having limited 4 g coverage (like here in New England), going to a 4g phone isn't worth it. The X2 is not a "superphone" but more of a high end Entry Level phone. I picked one up in my transition from my Omnia (originally WM 6.1 upgraded with a cooked rom to WM 6.5) to an Android phone. it has much more capability than I'll need for the short run and by the time LTE makes it around here, it'll be just about that time for me to upgrade. I won't have upgraded prematurely for no reason. For me (and many others in NON-LTE areas), it makes sense to get a quality phone with serious performance capabilities without LTE (saving battery life & some $$ up front). The phone has so many more benefits that wouldn't even benefit from 4G Speeds.
