Ruby 1.1.1 (wallpaper NSFW)

Postby lyricalsnyper » Wed Sep 08, 2010 9:05 pm

Ruby 1.1.1 is out and available in Rom Manager

Fixes:
Gps
Camera/Camcorder
Media scanning
It wasn't listed but it also seems that the internal memory is mounting correctly, so now it recognizes music and pictures stored on your internal memory

Also when you download from Rom Manager you are prompted with some choices of themes, here are some screenshots:

Black Bar:

Incognito:

Note: Don't worry about the text on the notification bar not being seen (the clock and the Verizon text). Ruby has options to completely change the color of the text on the notification bar, so they will show up when you change the color. To get to Ruby's custom settings: Menu>settings>GEM settings>user interface tweaks

Edit*: on xda-dev and in my experience when downloading the ROM with a theme attached, it sometimes will instant FC dialer. To fix this, download the ROM and Gapps without a theme, then download the theme directly from here http://wiki.ccroms.net/ruby/releases/1.1.1. Also I had to use the mirror download because the original wouldn't install...just FYI

Thanks for the post! The Incognito theme looks real smooth, I'm gonna keep this for awhile and change it up.

Yeah I'm running the incognito red, I like it and ruby runs stupid fast. The only thing I found with this build which isn't a huge deal is the video-out cable doesn't work; kind of a bummer but definitely not a deal breaker. Awesome ROM!

YOU COULD ALSO FLASH ANY SAPPHIRE THEME TO RUBY, AS LONG AS IT'S THE SAME VERSION NUMBER.. (SAPHIRE 1.1.1= RUBY 1.1.1) I HAVE THE SAPHIRE REDRUM THEME AND HAVENT HAD ANY PROBLEMS......

I highly approve of your wallpaper!

On another note, I plan sometime soon to flash a vanilla Android ROM to my Incredible. I've always wanted a Nexus One, but since I prefer Verizon as a carrier, the Inc is as close as I will get (and, actually, is better in many ways). And I'll most likely be installing Ruby. I had Sapphire on my Moto Droid and was quite happy with the build.

I'm still contemplating the implications... since when you think about it, other than the N1 and the original Droid (which isn't in production any more), as far as I know there are no bare Android phones any more. Not sure the Droid X and Droid 2 count as bare Android or how much MotoBlur changes things (haven't used those phones really at all).

Looks great. Wallpaper is NSFW though. Maybe you could add that to the thread title.

Sorry about the wallpaper guys, I see it so much I didn't even realize... added NSFW

@mbs: as far as vanilla ROM's go iv tried them all except skyraider's vanilla version and shadowROM because its based off cm6, jager's was cool but it had the same problems that cm6 had when I tried it last (6.0.2); most where little things I could live with except they wouldn't mount the internal memory correctly, so if you had pictures taken by the Sense camera or music on your internal memory the phone wouldn't recognize it. cvpcs figured it out and Ruby is amazing, its fast, clean, really customizable, and for the most part fully functional. I swap back and forth between ROM's all the time but the only vanilla ROM I use is Ruby.... I love it. also it seems that a lot of themes made for sapphire also work on any GEM ROM, which is very nice because sapphire has been out for awhile, i'm going to try skyraider's vanilla but after Ruby my standards are high. side note: motoblur is like sense, it changes a lot, also what implications are you referring to?

Nothing specific, but really other than the Droid 1 and the Nexus One, I can't think of any other AOSP phones. Everything else has either Sense, Blur or TouchWiz (not sure what the T-Mobile G2 runs, though). I'm wondering how long Google will continue to provide everything necessary to run one's phone as an AOSP device. I presume at least through the 2.x releases, but I wonder about release 3. Will there still be an open source Google launcher, etc.?

Again, these aren't specific questions, but more of a what-if. Could always go back to stock I suppose.

In any event, I installed CM 6.02 a few days ago. So far, so good. A few little bugs (broken notification LED blinking for one). May reflash and try Ruby.

Oh - quick question. Think I need to wipe data/cache before installing Ruby coming from CM 6?

Did you wipe before installing? Do you have the unrevoked forever and the radio updates? where did you get the download, rom manager or forums, and did you install with a theme attached?

I see what your saying about the skins and carrier Bloat-ware, I feel comfortable guaranteeing Google will continue to provide everything needed for AOSP devices, especially with 3.x because of the focus on tablets, their dedication to open source and the encouragement of rooting. They know whats going on in the community, and they support it so they wont disappoint.

To your question, personally, I wipe whenever I install a new ROM; I've been told you don't need to all the time especially if they are the same type of ROM (I.E updating cm), but since these are two completely different from source ROM's yes, always wipe and backup first. Besides with titanium backup there really isn't any reason not to.

After reading about some of the (albeit minor) issues with Ruby 1.1.1 on the XDA forums, I decided to go for a combo approach -

I'm now running Virtuous 3.01 (a Sense-based ROM), their battery-optimized kernel, plus Launcher Plus Pro for that stock launcher feel, tweaked with a few custom icons.

Seems to be running quite well. I'll get some screen shots up later.

@mbs: thats the same setup I normally use (except my lp+ is completly decked out cuz im not to fancy on stock looking stuff lol), because I use bluetooth for music, when ccr fixes that I will be stoked.

also i'm running a new theme on Ruby, its prodigy's grey and its awesome but xda is down so i will link it later
